Who says companies don't admit when they've made a mistake? I was just having this conversation today with a co-worker.

We learn far more from our mistakes than our successes. Too many successes without any failure is a recipe for weak leadership in an organization. Organizations that punish leaders for failures are weak organizations. Of course there has to be a balance. But when the corporate culture forces leaders to "spin" failures into some sort of phony story of success rather than admitting failure this is a company we should avoid. If a leader cannot admit mistakes, investigate the reason. If it is corporate culture, avoid the company. If it is the leader's personality, eliminate the leader. Kudos to Microsoft on this one.

"Windows Phone 7 is the real mobile strategy," said Rosoff. "The fact that it (the Kin) was ever released in the first place was a mistake. When they went with Phone 7, they should have quietly killed this project."

I am currently taking Eucalyptus for a test drive and will report back with a full review and tutorial at a later date.

I can tell you at this point that the installation was very smooth. I used CentOS 5.3 64-bit. I also set up the Firefox HybridFox plugin which looks very much like ElasticFox. These are tools normally used with the Amazon Web Service cloud. Eucalyptus is essentially a private cloud clone of AWS.

I am very excited to begin working with and exploring this IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) technology.

Yes. It has been speculated that the reason Google took gmail out of beta was to prepare for the push to market Google Apps to Enterprise customers.

I certainly agree that scanning document content for ad relevance just feels wrong.

Microsoft seems to be struggling to find innovative solutions in every part of their business with the exception of the XBox and Project Natal. They are riding the wave of success from previous decades. That wave can't last forever. Most of their recent offerings are following rather than leading and are too little too late.

One can say that this is a direct Microsoft's answer to Google docs. Maybe you have noticed, that Google has been lately trying really hard to move large and paying customers to Google Docs or better said to its Google cloud.

As far as I heard, MS Word Web App should be also advertisement supported so it may cause some problems with users since it will scan your documents and display relevant ads. Sure, gmail does the same but I guess documents are more personal than emails.

Will it change?
